A Visual Lineage
After my first child was born, everything shifted. I didn’t just see myself in him—I saw my father. My uncle. My grandmother. My husband’s grandmother. I saw people I had only known through old photographs.

We all know that in OUR families, this is what WE do.

From the moment a child arrives, the search begins: “Who do they look like?” “That’s your granddaddy’s smile.” “She’s got your cousin’s eyes.” “That’s them Porter feet.” “Look at that Kinney big toe.”
It’s not just a habit.
It’s how we preserve memory.
It’s how we recognize ourselves in those who came before us.

This project, In Their Image, is a reflection of that ritual.

A series of side-by-side photos showing my family members past and present—reminding us that our lineage lives on in the smallest details. Even when names fade, the faces remain.
